Michael Dannie Morris passed away on October 8, 2026, at his home in Barrie. Michael was the beloved husband of Cathy. Loving father to Chris (Megan), Candice (Peter), Rob (Christine), and Shayna (Daniel). Adoring grandfather to Lucas, Lydia, Henry, and Clara. Cherished son of the late Dannie and Thersea Morris and favourite son-in-law of Raymond and Beverly MacDonald. Brother to Maurina, Dan (Leslie), and Keith. Uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, and cousin to the Morris and MacDonald families. One of Michael’s favourite things to do was gather his extended family together to spend quality time and for “just one more” picture.
Michael was born in 1959 in Etobicoke, Ontario. He dedicated his career to protecting others. He was proud of his work as a Correctional Officer and as a Crisis Negotiator for Central North Correctional Centre, and as a Special Constable for the Barrie Police. He was loved by his coworkers and will be remembered for his kindness and joy that he would share with everyone.
Michael loved life and everything that it had to offer. He frequently spent his time outdoors rock climbing, sailing, snorkeling, and riding his motorcycle. Michael had a passion for photography and treasured capturing moments. He loved listening to music, going to concerts, and attending musicals. He was a proud 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus at St. John Vianney Parish and Knights on Bikes. Michael was a life-long learner. He enjoyed travelling, reading, writing, participating in workshops, and watching documentaries about history. He was the glue that held his family together. Everyone could count on him to arrange various gatherings for all his family.
Michael will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He was a bright light for many, and his memory will continue to light the way for everyone who experienced his love. We will miss you always.
