Morven Brydges

October 4, 1927 - February 18, 2021

Funeral Details: A Private Family Farewell.

Brydges, Morven:  Passed away peacefully at Southlake Residential Care Village, Newmarket on Thursday February 18, 2021.  Morven Brydges (nee McGeorge) of Newmarket was born October 4th, 1927 in Largs, Scotland.  Beloved mother of Scott Brydges of Westmount, QC, Laura Gardiner (Michael Drury) of Newmarket, ON and Robert Brydges (Jennifer) of Milton, ON. Loving grandmother to Beck and Cole Brydges.

Morven immigrated to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland in 1951, taking the 18 hour flight with 2 stops (in those days) to get to Canada. She went on to live in Guelph, ON where she met and married Earl Brydges (since divorced) and had 3 children. Family was everything to Morven and she was a committed and constant presence for them throughout her long life. Morven always found solutions to life’s challenges and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a switchboard operator to provide for her family. Later in life, to be closer to family, Morven moved to the Barton Residence and later Southlake Village, both in Newmarket, ON. Throughout her life she loved nature, music, dogs and especially a good book!

As resident of Southlake for almost 9 years, Morven was well loved by all the staff and fellow residents for her kind nature and quiet participation in all group activities throughout the years.

A special thank you to Noel, Wilma and all the great staff at Southlake Village for the extraordinary care and compassion shown towards Morven.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of choice

Morven, you will be dearly missed by family and many friends! I knew you directly through Laura who shared many interesting stories of her family life, growing up, and experiences beyond. May you rest in peace.

I can always remember Morven having a kind and peaceful soul , everything was always so neet and in it’s place. I shall remember her with fondness , she’s probably having a wee drink of sherrie right now. I hope you are all healthy , wealthy , and wise !
