Funeral Details: A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 11:00 am. at St. Thomas Cemetery, 471 Manitoba Street, Bracebridge

Noreen Beverly Kennedy (nee Hankinson) passed away at the age of 89 on October 6th with family by her side at her home in Bracebridge, Ontario.

Noreen was born in Hamilton Ontario on December 15, 1932 to parents Elizabeth Frances (nee Stevens) and William Claude Hankinson.

She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved Aunt Eileen and Uncle Wimund Kirk, as well as her sister Lois, brother Del, daughter Anne and son, Mark.  Noreen is survived by her loving husband and partner Ronald Robert (Bob) Kennedy of 67 years and two children Lori (George Smith) of Powell River and Brad Kennedy (Lorie) of Bracebridge as well as her son-in-law Philip Patterson.  She will be greatly missed by her sister Joan Lee, beloved grandchildren Robert (Carley) Patterson, Gina Patterson (Ryan Penney), Sam and Ben Kennedy, great grandchildren, Emily and Bobby Patterson, all of Bracebridge as well as many nieces and nephews.

Noreen's devout, abiding faith was a very personal and integral part of her identity.  She was a lifelong student of the Bible and drew strength from the message of hope in the Christian Gospel.  She was an excellent homemaker who spent most of her life ensuring her family was well cared for.  Noreen made everything fun and provided her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with the most happy memories growing up.  We all benefited from her good sense and sound judgement.  An avid reader, she excelled at crosswords and her favourite show was Jeopardy. She enjoyed gardening, gospel music and day trips on the back roads of Ontario.

Thank you to Dr Keith Cross for the many decades of exceptional care provided to Noreen and more recently, to Dr. Christopher LaJeunesse.  The family would also like to thank the Palliative Care Team in Muskoka for all the support that allowed Noreen to pass away comfortably at home as per her wishes.  In particular, a special thank you is extended to Cierra, Ashley, and Cindy. Your professionalism, kindness and caring ways are deeply appreciated.

A public graveside service will be held at St Thomas Cemetery, 471 Manitoba Street, Bracebridge, on Saturday, October 29th at 11:00 am.  Friends will be received following the service at St Thomas' Anglican church, 4 Mary Street, Bracebridge.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy consider making a memorial donation to their favourite charity in Noreen's name. Online memories and condolences may be made at www.peacefultransition.ca

I am deeply saddened by the lost of such a wonderful neighbour for over 50 years. Noreen had so many great stories and took such an interest in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made special efforts every Christmas for the gifts she thoughtfully chose for all those dear to her. Bob was her strength in her will to be at home during her more challenging days and which enabled her to be in the place she felt most comfortable. Lori and George and Brad and Lorie were so supportive for both their Mother and Father in these past months, a testament to the values both parents instilled in them. My heart goes out to all of you.
