Norman Patrick Turnbull

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

Died peacefully at the Bob Rumball Home on December 29th, 2023, and is now in the loving arms of Jesus.  He is reunited with the love of his life, Mary.  Norman was a wonderful and loving father to his children Peter, Shirley (Rodney, deceased), Alison (Wayne), and Philip; and amazing Poppa to Nick (Nicky) Amanda (Shawn), Joe (Mikayla) and Justin (Miranda).  He was also loved Poppa to his nine great grandchildren.  Norman is survived and will be fondly remembered by his sister Doreen and his many nieces and nephews.

Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1964.  Norman had a passion for English football, which he played, coached, and watched all his life.  His other passion was running which he did well into his 70’s, accomplishing two half-marathons in his 70’s.  He likened the race to the Christian path and indeed life itself.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  Donations can be made to the Bob Rumball Foundation for the Deaf (Home).  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca.

Such a remarkable man. I always enjoyed our chats. Just seeing him brought a smile to my face and a light to my soul. May you always cherish the memories. He and Mary were so warm and kind. They raised a wonderful family. Many blessings, Lynda

So very sad to hear of the passing of Uncle Norman. I have fond memories of meeting him, both here in the UK when he visited (once with Aunty Edith, another time on his own for the Great North Run) and subsequently on my two trips over to Canada. I remember his love for Tim Hortons, his passion for running which he shared with my husband, David, and his kindness and humour. He was a lovely man and will be greatly missed by family and friends. I hope he is now at rest with Aunty Edith.

    With love,

    Hannah, David and Aggie xxx
