Olive Eldene McCormick

October 29, 1930 - October 5, 2022

Funeral Details: Celebrate of Life on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Quality Inn & Conference Centre, Orillia from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Mom was never really fond of the names given to her at birth and often thought she should change her name to Olivia; however, we knew her and loved her as Mom, Nanny, Great-Nanny, Auntie, or friend.

Mom was always in awe of creation and the beauty it provided; she was captivated by what she could see in the clouds, the flowers coming into bloom in the spring and the nest full of new wee birds.  Mom was especially fond of animals; donkeys and cats were her absolute favourite.  The greatest pleasure in Mom’s life though was her family.

Eldene Eccles met John McCormick in Kingston, Ontario and married on February 27, 1957.  In time their family grew to welcome four children Kelley (Andy) Goetgheluck, Alison McCaskill, John (Stacey) McCormick and Elisabeth McCormick.  As time went by, they welcomed eight grandchildren: Kris (Denise) Goetgheluck, Michael (Nicki) Goetgheluck, Lyndsie (Brandon) Sloan, Kelan (Jenny) Goetgheluck, Shane (Jalisha) Goetgheluck, Mitchell McCaskill, Shelby McCaskill, Colin (Deb) McCaskill and eight great grandchildren; each and every one of them meant the world to her.  Mom also cherished her “bonus daughter”, Angela Wiggins who has been a huge part of our family always.

Mom made many lifelong friends who will remember her for her caring and generous heart.  Mom’s special friends, Careen, Dorothy, Monika, Ann, and Elmer meant so much to her.

You never left a visit with empty arms along with a hug, a kiss, or a chocolate, and an “I love you”.  You always felt cherished and loved with Mom.

Mom was dedicated to her faith and her family finds comfort in knowing that very soon we will see her again.

Rev.21:4 “Jehovah will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away”

A celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at the Quality Inn & Conference Centre, 201 Woodside Drive, Orillia from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  We hope that you can pop by and share a memory with us.

She was always so happy and we enjoyed our time with her over the last 11 years being back in Orillia. We loved getting her little emails that always ended in love you and big hugs.

To all of Eldene’s family we send our love and condolences.

My Auntie was very special. As a young child all the nieces and nephews new her as Auntie Bubby. LOL I was at their wedding although I don’t remember much about it. The Manning family visited when you moved to Orillia and had a great time. Bob & I visited with Mom & Dad on an overnight. Even though we are some distance away Aunt Eldene and I always kept in touch through phone calls to each other. The calls always ended with I Love You.

I will greatly miss our conversations. I send my love to you all.
