Patricia Grace Ellis (nee Aspery)

August 29th, 1931 - May 19th, 2022

Funeral Details:

Passed in to Glory Thursday May 19th, 2022. Pat was born August 29, 1931 to Gladys and Joseph Aspery. She was married to her dear husband Bud for almost 71 years. They were blessed with three children Ted Ellis, Cam Ellis and Mandy Hillyard. Loving Gram to Andrew (Christine) Hillyard, Spencer Hillyard (Nichi Aikins), Matthew Ellis, Margot Ellis, Jane Ellis, Graeme Ellis, Jennifer Ellis, Scott Ellis, Cameron Watson and Bradley Watson. Great-Gram to Woodrow and Boone Hillyard and fondly remembered by Carrie Gudgeon, Cathie Ellis and Kari Weeden. Pat also leaves behind her sister Joan Tustin.

Cooking, baking, painting were Pat's specialties and also her uniquely designed and painted Christmas cards and homemade felt Christmas stockings with yearly socks were a tradition. She also never missed sending a birthday card to family and friends. The Anglican Eucharist and traditions were dear to her heart and she prayed daily for many people. Pat loved to read and up until a couple of weeks before she passed, she was reading a book a week. Staying on top of politics and world events was also a keen interest. Woods Park Care Centre was her home for the last two years of her life. She wrote and contributed a profile of a resident or staff for the monthly Woods Park newsletter. Pat had many dear friends including Peggy Husband. They met in Sunday School at St. George's Anglican Church on Yonge Street in Willowdale and have remained close friends for 84 years.

Special thanks to the staff at Woods Park for their consistent kindness through a difficult time in health care and to Syl RN at RVRHC Respiratory Unit. We thank you so much for your wonderful, attentive care as Pat died to this life. You made difficult restrictions bearable. A family tribute service will take place in July. In lieu of flowers or donations, please be kind to one another and pay it forward. Words of condolence can be left at www.peacefultransition.com

Gram was the true definition of a sweet kind women. Some of the best memories of Gram are her and I in horseshoe watching birds and mimicking their calls. She always made me feel like a super hero. During my whole life.

So sorry for your loss Hillyard and Ellis families. I met Pat and Bud at the David Busby Street Centre. They volunteered and I always looked forward to seeing them again. I received one of Pat’s beautiful Christmas cards and she was a gifted artist. She had a welcoming smile and a sweet laugh. I will remember her that way. RIP Pat. Sincerely, Bonnie McGill-Ploeg

Dear Mandy and Ellis families… It was sad to receive your note yesterday.. there was no need to open .. as I expected the news would eventually follow after your Dad’s passing. I was concerned that our exchange of emails on events that travel the internet that provides a little laughter became silent of recent months. Yes, the exchange of Christmas cards became a pleasant moment of time. I sometimes wonder why we have a mental vision of people we know from years gone bye .. but, that’s how I will remember both Pat and Bud .
    Blessings to all, ernie

    Dear Mandy,
My thoughts and love are with you and your lovely family.
I have gorgeous memories of visiting your Mum and Dad and the aroma of home baking as you entered the front door and welcomed with open arms. Your Mum is now free of pain and at peace. You were a treasure to her.
My love to you my dear friend.
