Patricia Mary Leavoy

March 29, 1952 - September 14, 2025

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will take place on a later date.

It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Mary Cowden Leavoy, of Barrie, ON announce her peaceful passing at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, ON, on September 14, 2025, at the age of 73.

Predeceased by her parents Shirley (Malcolm) and Leslie Cowden.  Pat leaves to mourn her husband Raymond of 42 years.  Her son Scott (Jessica Dean) and her greatest joy and the reason that she fought so hard, her beautiful namesake 3 month old granddaughter Amelia Lynda Patricia Leavoy.

Pat was the eldest daughter and first grandchild on both sides of the Cowden and Malcolm family.  She took great joy at any cousin gathering reminding all of us that she is the matriarch of our family and should be listened to and respected.

Pat was predeceased by her brother Michael in 2020.  Left to mourn her passing are brothers and sister Jerry (Shirley Haley), Rick (Joanne Tourigny), Cheryl, David (Susanne Castilloux).

Before becoming a grandmother, Pat practiced with her brother’s kids and grandkids.  She was a special aunt to Jessica, Tyler (Melanie) and Joshua (Jenna) and great aunt to Riley, Kooper, Daxin, Gracelynn, Logan, Zoey, Noah, Skyler, Nixon and Blake.

Pat built lasting friendships with many of her colleagues over her career at Ontario Hydro before taking on her favorite job as stay at home wife and mother.  She was known not just for her baking and cooking skills but also organizing and coordinating for her arthritis exercise club.  She did many roles in that club and became known as the pie lady for the hundreds of pies she donated to Woods Park, supporting the employees where the classes were held.

Pat was a talented knitter and crocheter and loved to keep her mind sharp doing her puzzles.  She loved a good game of cards or trivial pursuit.

Pat will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the enduring impression she left on everyone she met.

Special thanks to the staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital - Rotary Place in Barrie for their care and professionalism over the last few months.

Cremation has occurred and a private Celebration of Life for Pat will be held at a later date.

Donations made to the Salvation Army in memory of Pat would be greatly appreciated. (https://salvationarmy.ca/get-involved/donate/)

Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face ,
And the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
