Patti Marko

August 27, 1963 - May 19, 2023

Funeral Details: August 27, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Oakview Terrace (13256 Leslie St., Richmond Hill, On., L4E 1A2)

Patti Lynn Marko née Grundy passed away on May 19, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with cancer, surrounded by her husband Brad and son Jack.

Patti was born August 27, 1963, to Shirley and Joe Grundy in St. Catharines, Ontario.  In her childhood, Patti was an adorable, curly-haired spitfire.  Patti always expressed herself creatively and with those talents went on to study illustration and graphic design at Sheridan College. Patti met Brad, her husband and partner in life in the late 1980s.  They have been together ever since.  Brad was Patti’s rock and his personality perfectly complemented Patti’s.  In their marriage Patti bore one child, Jack, in 1998 and he continues to make them both proud with his musical accomplishments.  They presently live in Aurora, Ontario with their cat named Ivy.

Patti will be greatly missed by her husband Brad and son Jack, Shirley and Joe (parents), Anna (Joe’s wife), Bonnie, Jo-Anne, Cindy (sisters), Joe (brother), and their partners, nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, cousins and everyone on Brad’s side of the family.

Patti had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile.  She was a private and quiet person, creative and artistic in so many areas.  Patti worked in glass fusing, jewelry making, silver-smithing, graphic design, painting and anything else she could put a creative touch on.  She loved walking the beach and collecting sea shells on family vacations, baking cakes and desserts for family, watching murder mysteries and trash tv with her husband, and spending time with her book club girlfriends.  She was strong-willed, stubborn, and opinionated but those traits defined Patti.  They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges.

Patti was a strong fighter, but she is now sailing on a journey to shores that we cannot see.  We know that she is free from pain and is floating peacefully in the crystal-clear turquoise waters of her dreams.  Just keep swimming love…

The last thing Patti said to me was “I’m very grateful for many things” in a messenger exchange, some time ago. That’s exactly how I think of her, full of gratitude and joy no matter what. She was also so very generous and creative. I will think of her often and especially every December when we hang her beautiful Christmas decorations on our tree. Our deepest condolences to the Marko and Grundy families.

Patti was a great friend. She always had time to listen and offer her advice. And I loved her wit and sarcastic comments!
She was fearless in her creative endeavours and was always an inspiration.
We were lucky to have known her. Lots of great memories. She left too soon and will be, and is, greatly missed.

We had the pleasure of meeting Patti on October of last year, when she came in for her eye exam. Within minutes Patti and I, and the rest of the team, were talking just about everything. She was such a delight to meet. She was excited about her all girls trip and wanted the funkiest of glasses for her trip. We did our best to help her select the the right frame. We may have gotten close, but nothing really paralleled the exuberance, joy, positivity, mischievously funny, and the brightest of smiles that she had on her face for the entire visit. Needless to say, she left an impression on us. Additionally, she stopped by a couple of times afterwards to delight us all and make our day. Our deepest condolences to the Marko family. We wish you all the best and are thankful to have experienced her presence and joy for life.
