Paula Marie Winterburn (Johnson)

March 8, 1950 - August 3, 2025

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will take place on a later date.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paula Marie Winterburn (Johnson), aged 75, of Aurora, Ontario, who passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 8, 1950, in Toronto, Ontario, Paula was the daughter of Alden and Elizabeth Johnson, and the cherished sister of Craig Johnson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Victor “Dee” Winterburn, and her parents.

Paula was a devoted and loving mother to Deborah Winterburn (Scott) and Lori Winterburn (Robert), and the proud Nana of Courtney (Scott), Brianna, and Ryan—a role she cherished above all else. She was recently blessed with her first great-grandchild, Scarlett—a milestone her family will always hold close to their hearts.

She played a deeply active role in the lives of her grandchildren, helping to raise them with tenderness, laughter, and unwavering love. Her support, presence, and care were a gift to her family, especially during their earliest years.

Paula will be remembered for her contagious laugh, her radiant smile, and her affection—never shy with hugs, kisses, and the words “I love you.” She made sure the people she cared about knew how deeply they were loved. She found joy in the simple things: digging in her garden, making memories with her family, and treasuring every moment with her grandchildren.

A special thank you to the wonderful nurses, PSWs, and staff at AgeCare Aurora, whose care and compassion made her final chapter more comfortable and filled with dignity.

A Celebration of Paula’s Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada, a cause that holds deep meaning for our family.

As Paula often said, “Always in my heart.” And so she will remain, in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time

Paula like your dad (Dee) were such special people with the biggest hearts always making people feel valued and important

Also life takes us different directions the impact people can make stay with us forever

I always felt like Paula was my mom too, sharing love and giving me heck when I needed it, we shared so many wonderful memories that I will cherish from the bacon and cheese toast she would make me, wonderful days at the cottage and her hugs that were so tight and filled with love, just thinking out them brings back many powerful memories

I shed a tear for what you have lost and the many memories we’ve shared but most for the world losing someone so special that just can’t ever be replaced

I wish I could hug you one more time, you’ll be missed terribly and never forgotten
