With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Penny Ornsby, age 60. Despite the devastating cancer diagnoses Penny was handed in previous months, she fought a courageous battle. She passed peacefully and surrounded by family at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, on the night of Thursday, March 7th, 2024.

Born June 19th, 1963, in Barrie, Penny spent her lifetime working hard and putting family first. As an educated cobbler and an experienced custodian, Penny preferred jobs where she could work with her hands and set her own pace. She was always the most efficient and diligent worker on staff. Upon retirement, she became a snowbird and enjoyed many winters in Florida, but her hardworking nature did not cease, and she eventually came out of retirement to enjoy working once again. - Throughout her life, she always balanced work with family. Her family always felt loved and knew she was there for them. Pennys family was large, but her personality was larger. With a contagious smile and laugh, she was always the life of the party. Her positive outlook on life will always be remembered.

Penny is lovingly remembered by her partner Paul, her father Danny (Deb), her daughter Christina (Rob), late son Chris (Caitlin), Stepdaughter Carrie (Darrien), siblings Ron, late Brian (Darlene), late Shelly (Jamie), Frank (Donna), Michael, Ken (Heather), Derek, and many nieces and nephews. Pennys favourite thing in life was being a loving grandmother to Ava, Abbilee, Grayson, and Cara. Penny was predeceased in death by her mother and father Elise and Frank.

A short service to be followed by a Celebration of Life that will be held at the ANAF, at 52 Morrow Road in Barrie, Ontario, on April 1st, 2024 (11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to the Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/in-memory-and-in-honour-donations) or the Salvation Army (https://salvationarmy.ca/donations/).

Writing a comment on my dear friend Penny is very difficult, there are just too many great memories to fit it all in. Penny made everyone feel so welcome and comfortable. Myself, Tony and my grandsons spent wonderful times with Penny & Paul and we will miss her dearly.
