Rhea Lynn High

June 28, 1964 - January 1, 2023

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Rhea’s life will be held in the Spring.

It is with great sadness that I, Charles High announce the passing of my most beloved wife, Rhea Lynn High on New Year’s Day 2023.  Rhea was born on June 28, 1964, in the small community of Atikokan, Ontario to Keith and Sheila Taverner.  While she was still a baby, the family moved to Bracebridge where she resided her entire life.  She attended Bracebridge Public School and then Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary school.  She married, raised her family, worked, and lived in Bracebridge.  She will be greatly missed by so many people in our community and in our home.  I did not realize just how many people my wife had touched with her kindness, her smile, and her dedication to her work.  She unfortunately did not even have the chance to enjoy retirement as a PSW before she was taken from us.  She leaves behind her son, Aaron High, her daughter Samantha Yake High, her cherished grandchildren Kyzlee and Epyous Yake, as well as her father Keith Taverner, her sister Tracy Baverstock and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and treasured friends.  She is predeceased by her mother, Sheila (nee Harper) and her brother, Roger.

My grandfather once told me that your measure in life was not how much you make, nor by how powerful you are.  When you can leave this world by making so many happy and comforted without bias is the best.  Rhea was a bright shining example of this.  Rhea loved life and especially loved people.  She loved her hockey as well as her baseball.  Her biggest dream in hockey was to get Wendel Clark’s autograph.  A very big thank you to all those who made it possible.  She also loved music, cooking and a good murder mystery once in a while.

Special thank you to all the nurses and doctors for all their dedication with such limited resources.  I cannot thank you enough.
