Robert Grant Walker passed away suddenly at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, at the age of 82 years.  Grant is survived by his wife Gayle (Oschefski), son Justin, and stepdaughter Sheila Harmsworth.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Melissa, Jonathan, and Tamara Harmsworth; great-grandchildren Paytin and Avery Harmsworth.  Born in Toronto, ON, on March 19, 1940.  Since 1968 he loved to spend summers at his cottage on Kapikog Lake in the Township of the Archipelago, where he was also the Ward 6 Councillor for the past 20+ years.  Grant was an active member of the Sheba Shrine in Barrie.  He owned and operated a distribution business for the past 35 years and continued to work there until his passing.  Grant will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.  A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheba Shrine, 142 John Street, Barrie, ON, 705-726-5555.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cardiac Care Unit at RHRHC in Barrie through Donate Now - Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation (  Online memories and condolences may be made at

    Such sad news … as a cottage owner on Kapikog Lake, I’ve known Grant for a long time. We shared a love for the lake and on many occasions, we would swap ‘lake’ stories over a cold beer. Grant had some great stories to tell … I’ll miss that for sure.
