Roberta Roberts

March 8, 1927 - February 7, 2019

Funeral Details: Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Collier Street United Church

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Roberta Roberts, surrounded by her family, at Royal Victoria Hospital on February 7th, 2019.

Roberta was the loving wife, best friend and soul mate, for 50 years of the late Jack Roberts.

Roberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was devoted to her brother and eight sisters and survived by her ninety-two year old twin sister Ruby Litster.  Roberta was a long-time member of Collier Street United Church and passionate Blue Jay fan.  She loved growing up on the farm in Allenford Ontario, her many worldwide vacations in the sixties/seventies, singing in a choir, playing cribbage/euchre, cleaning, baking and cottage life. Roberta was an avid supporter of her grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Roberta deeply cared for her family.  Loved and cherished by her daughter Barbara Stephens (Rick), Gordon (Jennifer), Joan Fairbarn (Les) and Jerry (Brenda).

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Brandon  (Sheila), Jordan, Joshua (Meredith), Matthew (Jennifer), Adam (Jennifer), Nadia (Robert), Katherine (Michael), Alissa (Garrett), Tanya (Nathan), Natasha (Richard) as well as her many great grandchildren Mackenzie, Brody, Cameron, Hannah, Cole, Jacob, Paisley, Collins, Kinley, Hudson, Hunter, Talon, Easton and Montant.  She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank staff of RVH for their compassion and care of our mother.  Special thanks to Dr. Beecroft, Dr. Scheeres, Dr. Kang and their wonderful supportive staff.  We would also like to thank the community care providers for their caring support.

A visitation will be held, on Saturday April 27th at 1:00 p.m., in the Collier Street United Church Sanctuary, 112 Collier Street, Barrie Ontario.   Visitation will followed with a service at 2:30 p.m., and then a reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Sick Children’s Hospital and/or Collier Street United Church would be appreciated by the family.

When I was a young child/teenager , I can remember seeing Roberta and Jack ( Mr. & Mrs. Roberts) sitting together at Collier Church and thinking “what a distinguished looking couple! Always cheery, friendly with a warm smile.” When I coached the Fairbarn girls in volleyball their grandma was their number one cheerleader! Always so positive! She continued to support them when they became coaches! How special is that!?!? You were blessed with a very special grandma. You will have lots of memories to cherish! Hugs to all!
