Ronald Ernest Covert

May 3, 1933 to December 28, 2022

Canada has lost an upstanding citizen.  A man not known to the masses but one who made a difference in many lives: people with whom he worked; attended alongside at church; played racquet sports, hockey and lawn bowling; and most importantly his late wife Barbara (June 8, 2020) and his daughters Angela (John McGough) and Alison.  Special grand-father of Emma and Kayla as well to his step-grandchildren Vanessa and  Eli. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Sheldon and Donna and numerous cousins and friends.

Ron died after living for three months in Aurora, ON so to be near his family.  After Barbara passed, he chose to live alone in Cobourg due to his independent spirit but as time moved on, he and his daughters decided it was time that he moved.  He settled into his new home without hesitation, but with hope.

Ron lived in many locations within Ontario including Warkworth, Cobourg, Napanee and Toronto.  He worked as an accountant preferring construction companies; he enjoyed lawn bowling, a sport he shared for over 30 years with Barbara and he was treasurer of the church board at Melrose Community Church where he served for 25 plus years.

Ron’s faith in God was evident when times were tough and during times of great joy.  He prayed daily for his family and friends and did not shy away from theological discussion.  At the same time, he did not consider his faith to be one to trump over others as he was willing to seek out both sides of any issue while exhibiting respect and understanding.

A celebration of Ron’s life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at Melrose Community Church (375 Melrose Ave, Toronto, ON M5M 1Z6) Light refreshments will be served afterward.

Donations in Ron’s memory can be made directly to: Melrose Community Church, Toronto; Fellowship Baptist Church, Cobourg or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful Transition York (2-15236 Yonge Street, Aurora, ON.,) and condolences may be forwarded through www.peacefultransition.ca

Heartfelt condolences Angela & Alison on the loss of your beloved Dad. May you always treasure your memories of him. May they bring you comfort during times that you miss him. May God grant you peace and comfort as you grieve. You can rejoice that he is reunited with your Mom in Heaven. I wonder if there is lawn bowling there? Blessings & Hugs, Barbara McLeod, Melrose Community Church
