CUMMINGS, ROSS JOSEPH

In the loving arms of his family, Ross Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Nov. 21 @ RVH Barrie. Loving partner and friend of 30 years to Maureen. Father to Holly Marshall of Parry Sound, Kathy Gauthier of Parry Sound, Bill Therrien (Brenda) of Medicine Hat, AB. Step Father to Debbie Cunningham (Kevin) of Thornton, Don Noseworthy (Wendy) of Barrie, Kevin Noseworthy (Judie) Owen Sound. Survived by Sister Lorna Walsh of Barrie, brothers Floyd Cummings (Lolly) of Parry Sound, and Butch Cummings of Barrie. Predeceased by his parents Lorne and Georgie Cummings, Son Danny Cummings and Step daughter Sharon Webb, sisters Rita and Gerry and brothers Bees, Ken and Webb.

Ross will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family and large circle of friends.

Ross served proudly with the Canadian Coast Guard for 15 years. He retired from the City of Barrie in 1995. He loved his daily walks and neighborly chats. Always an animal lover, especially his best buddy Yofi. Ross was the greatest Blue Jay fan and not just when they were winning.

Our family would like to thank the St. Elizabeth Society, Dr’s Mills, El Maraghi and Tiffany Tam at RVH Oncology and the quiet angels floating the hallways on 4SC at RVH.

In keeping with Ross’s wishes cremation has taken place and a family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

We celebrate Ross’s life and hope that you will too, perhaps with a random act of kindness or simply hugging a loved one while thinking of him.

If you wish, Donations may be made in his name to RVH Simcoe and Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. www.rvh.on.ca

RIP Ross-I bet the Blue Jays flag and Newfie flag are hanging off your wings with a guitar in your hand.

A Limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says,

“Grieve not for me.

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes we’re together again.”

Ross’s kind heart, humor, warmth, and compassion will be missed! It was a pleasure to know such a gentle man . I never saw him without a smile and a kind word. What made him smile the most was when he spoke of his loved ones.   The love that he had for you will always be with you. My thoughts and prayers are with Maureen, and family.

My memories of Uncle Ross will always be associated with kindness and big smiles and hugs. My childhood memories of a wonderful Uncle will always be with me as memories never leave us. The past few weeks sitting in his hospital room talking with him and holding his hand gave me a peaceful feeling knowing that he would soon leave us for a forever life where he would not have to suffer any longer. He will always be with us in the form of a gentle breeze, a warm summer rain, a beautiful butterfly and the rays of a beautiful warm sun. We love you and will miss you dearly Uncle.

My sincerest condolences to Maureen, Lorna and family in the loss of Ross.  I have such wonderful memories of Ross working at City Hall.  He was always so willing to lend a helping hand and tell a story or two along the way.  A true gentleman on earth and is now an angel in the heavens above.

We are neighbours and friends who loved Ross dearly.  We will miss him, his smiles, his hugs and now I have no one to change my guitar strings…  He was so proud flying the Blue Jays flags on his car.  There isn’t anything Ross wouldn’t do for his family, friends and neighbours.  Even the neighbourhood dogs enjoyed his friendly hello’s and a pat on their heads.  It is a relief that Ross suffers no more.  He fought to be well for a very long time.  Rest in Peace dear friend.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Maureen and all of the family through this difficult time, with love.

I loved my father with all my heart. We had a special connection that nobody new we talk every chance he could get alone. I would sometimes drive down just to walk with him. I love the family his friend Moe had for they loved my Dad as he always hoped for. He died sober. If any man deserved peace it was my Dad…As for his room mate may she rest now
