RUTH ELLEN HOLLYWOOD

Ruth was a colorful, funny, and lovely woman who enjoyed life on her own terms.

Ruth was married to Peter Hollywood until he passed in 1997.  She was the last of

her immediate family and has now joined her Mom and Dad, as well as her eight siblings.

We are pretty sure she is enjoying a rum and coke and a cigarette while playing the

piano to entertain them all.  Ruth had a kind heart, and she will be sadly missed and

fondly remembered by all that knew her.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday July 9, 2023 at 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the

Army Navy Air Force Club  (52 Morrow Road Barrie L4M 3V8)

To the family and friends of Ruth. I had the pleasure of meeting this dynamic woman, in August 2021. I had just transferred my Mother (Sarah) to Owen Hill. Ruth greeted us several days later. She was keenly interested in the new arrival and her family. She was always asked if we were okay and had a great smile and quick wick. During my daily visits, I always said Hello and joked around with her. We laughed at the most mundane things. She would patrol the hallways and check to see if all the residents and visitors were okay. She was the Ambassador of the second floor. I eventually gave her the nick name Queen Ruth. Ruth liked the company of men. Her dining room partners were Mikey, Terry and Bill (the Boys) who watched out for her and kept her entertained. I made a point to make her laugh and enjoyed her sly smile or grin. She quizzed me about my motorcycle gear and I said she was welcome to go for a ride on my Harley Davidson. She then got the nick name wheels, she would snicker when we all called that. The boy’s, my wife Billie-Jean and myself miss her and wish to pass on our condolences to your family. Kevin Ferguson

I miss you Aunt Ruth, I will always remember you fondly and I hope you will rest in peace with the rest of the family.
I expect you are entertaining them all and that they are so happy you have joined them.
I know the last few years were a little difficult at times but you made the best of what time you had left. I saw how the
entire staff at Owen Hill were so sad to see you go and I know so many of them were like family to you. You made them
laugh and kept them all on their toes.
    Sending you love and hugs,
    Cathy XO

Our sincere condolences. Ruth was a good friend to my mother and a great support to us when we lost her. We are so sorry we just learned of her passing. I’m sure Ruth and my mother are walking their beloved dogs through the pastures of heaven
