Sally Anne Russell

May 19, 1940 - November 5, 2023

Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It’s with heavy hearts and extreme sadness we announce the passing of Sally Anne Russell, with Glenn and Lynn by her side on November 5, 2023.  Born in Romford, Essex, England on May 19, 1940.  She arrived in Canada with her parents after WWII at age 5 carrying only her doll.

She is survived by her brother Graham Lindsay (Janice) in England, son Glenn Russell (Lynn Augustino) of Midhurst and Daughter in law Sheri Bailey of P.E.I.  Sally is predeceased by her parents George and Kathleen Lindsay, husband Gilbert Russell (2002), and her son Paul Russell (October 1, 2023).

Sally lived with fierce determination to be independent despite the struggles in her breathing since her lung cancer surgery in 2001 and 2005.  Sally has many friends who adored her.  She loved to sing and was very active in Barrie Soundwaves/Sweet Adelines for many years.  Her life was also filled with her love to socialize, shop, cook, garden, travel, decorate, dress fashionably and enjoy a fine glass of wine.  Sally took great pride in her career as the school secretary of East Oro Public School.

Glenn and Lynn would like to thank Dr. Paige Steciuk for her years of care for Sally, Dr. Jacky Lai for his comforting care at her end of life and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre - Respiratory floor, for their support and efforts for Sally to have the end-of-life care she wanted.  Glenn and Lynn would like to thank all of their friends for the caring messages of love and support and would like to especially thank Wendy who cared for Sally like family.

In lieu of flowers and a service, please consider a donation to Hospice Simcoe in Sally’s memory.

We ask that you play your favorite music, sing loudly and, in Sally’s words, “take care of each other”.  She will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to you on the passing of Sally. What a beautiful picture of her in better days. Wish I knew her when she was able to sing. It was an honour to visit her , she loved her McD s coffee and muffins. She expressed to me her happiness that Glenn had found Lynn- his love so he would not be alone. She must be joining a choir now with the Angels .
