Samuel Lorne Armstrong, age 74, of Barrie, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 10, 2024.  He passed away after a strongly fought battle with leukemia.

 

Sam was born in Toronto to Lorne Armstrong and Annie Fox on October 5, 1949.  Sam worked for Deluxe Taxi for over 20 years until his retirement in 2023.

 

Sam is predeceased by his parents Lorne Armstrong and Annie Fox, and his siblings Don and Louise.

 

Sam is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Linda Deshaies; his children Kerry Anne, Lorne, Chris, Ben and Josh; and his step children Brian, Mike and Jessica.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Peter, Pat, Shirley, Chris, Mike, Cindy, Bonnie and Billie and will be remembered by his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 

Sam was known for his passion for sports with particular love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.  His tough love and caring nature will be missed by all.

 

A Celebration of his Life will take place on Friday, May 10th, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Traditions Banquet Hall at Sheba Shrine (142 John St, Barrie, ON L4N 2L2)

 

Memorial contributions may be made Sam’s name to the Royal Victoria Cancer Care Centre and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
