November 30, 1957 - March 24, 2024

Funeral Details: Celebration of Life will be held at Snow Valley Resort on June 1st, 2024, from 1-4pm, with tributes beginning at 2pm

In an unexpected and sudden turn of events, Shannon Elaine Marchant left this world on Sunday, March 24, 2024, while wintering in the Florida warmth that she so adored.  Her sudden passing casts a shadow over many communities and leaving behind a trail of cherished memories.

Shannon was a beacon of light born in Durham, ON, and traversed through life in Owen Sound, Barrie, and briefly Ridgeway, ON. Along this journey, she touched countless lives with her boundless generosity and unwavering love for her family.

Describing Shannon's character feels like opening a floodgate of virtues—magnanimous, honest, determined, and endlessly generous. She was the epitome of a hostess, an organizer extraordinaire, and a visionary whose impact extended far beyond her immediate circles. Despite her petite frame, Shannon possessed a heart larger than life itself.

Throughout her career, Shannon exhibited remarkable versatility, starting in accounting before venturing into the automotive industry. She left her mark at Barrie Drive-a-Car, Jim Burns Chev Olds and Moffatt Cars before settling in as Fleet & Commercial Sales Manager at Barrie Ford, where she served clients with unparalleled dedication for 23 years. Even part-time endeavors, such as providing financial services for Dave Moore Auctioneer, showcased her multifaceted talents.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Shannon poured her energy into community initiatives, whether involved in Barrie Minor Soccer alongside her husband Wayne or spearheading fundraising efforts at Codrington School. She played a pivotal role in founding the Barrie Businesswomen’s Council, leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment and camaraderie among its members.

Shannon's keen eye for bargains and her knack for turning shopping into an art form were legendary, a skill that benefited those fortunate enough to be in her orbit. Her winters in Timber Pines, Florida, were a testament to her zest for life, where she embraced her role as the Happy Hour Convenor with gusto.

Amidst her whirlwind of activities, Shannon's greatest joy stemmed from her family. She shared 47 years of marriage with her devoted husband Wayne, raising their children, Christopher (Mandy) and Jennifer (Daryll), with love and unwavering support. Her sister, Laurie Hope (Bob d. 2021), remained a steadfast source of love and companionship, as did her sister-in-law Shelley Marchant, nieces Ashley, Emma, and Emily and nephews, Jacob and Franklin. She will be tremendously missed by her chosen grandchildren Logan and Reilly and her fur-grandchildren Hazel and Honey Bea.

Shannon's legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will continue to illuminate the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may be physically absent, her spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those she touched.

Please join her loved ones to celebrate her life at Snow Valley Resort on June 1st, 2024, from 1-4pm, with tributes beginning at 2pm.

Wayne and family, my thoughts and sympathy go out to you on this sudden loss. I worked with Shannon early in my career at a Barrie accounting firm and was always inspired by her cheerfulness, quality of work and zest for life. She embraced the opportunity to work with David H Moore Auctioneer on his Central Ontario sale projects. I think of her inspiration occasionally.

Wayne & Family, and Shelley: Passing along my condolences to your families as I recently heard about Shannon. I worked with Shelley many years ago & she often talked about her brother Wayne & his wife Shannon. I believe Wayne also worked with The City of Barrie as did my late husband, Murray.
May you find comfort in the many memories you have of her.
Keeping you all close in my thoughts.
