She will also be sadly missed by Grandchildren: Russell (Kristi), Jeffrey, Ryan, Steven (Tasha), Rob (Stef) Leslie, Katie and Michael. Great Grandchildren Cristian, Jeremiah, Lucas, Hannah, Izabelle, Gunner and Sophie,  Also missed by Nieces, nephews, the Bull and Barrel gang and a bounty of friends and acquaintances throughout the world.

Sherolyn was the corner stone for family and friends; A welcoming hostess, she had an open door policy and loved to organize gatherings and travel. Her home was the “landing place” for many Visitors from England on their first and return visits to Barrie and to Canada.  Many felt that she was their “adopted Mum” when they left their families in England and immigrated here.

She was a brilliant seamstress and spent most of her life creating and sewing for weddings and special events, her creations could have graced the pages of many fashion magazines.

Mum’s favorite pastime was travel, along with Dad they travelled the world together visiting places and friends in near and distant countries while never failing to meet new friends wherever they went.  She was known to declare that she “had a very good life” and had seen everything she wanted to see and been everywhere she wanted to go”.

Mum always said that she could live in her favorite vacation place Puerto Vallarta in her later years. She embraced the customs, places and the people and was always up to show newcomers around and to enjoy new adventures there.

Mum had other interests as well as travel.  She loved to Garden, sketch and had a passion for birds and wild life, you could always find a bird feeder in place no matter where she went. Mum transformed a bare construction site back yard into an oasis of flowers, trees, ponds and streams and she loved to get out and work on it, as she said, “I mess with it because it can always be improved”. Her hidden talent was sketching and a few of her sketches adorned picture frames in her home, and the wallpaper in her kitchen on Riverwood Court.

She loved her family with all her heart, her Husband, Parents, Children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

There will be a huge hole in many lives with the passing of this wonderful lady.

Behind every creative endeavor they say there has to be a person of passion, Mum was that and more.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people, Nurses, PSW’s, Staff and Doctors at Owen Hill Care Community, who have looked after her with Love, humor and kindness for the past two and a half years.

Due to the Covid-19 situation at the present time, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations may be made in memory of Sherolyn to

Leisureworld Barrie residential activity fund or OwenHill community quality of work life, Care of Lucianna.mazzone@siennaliving.ca

My deepest sympathy is extended to the Dawson family. Sherolyn was a cheerful, happy & very supportive lady of her family. She always had the time to speak & never without a smile on her face. She is probably giving Jeff the dickens for something he said or did & I can see the grin on his face now. May they start their next chapter together again! RIP Sherolyn.

Reading this brought back so many memories. You reminded me of the revolving door that was your parents front door. Welcoming everyone and anyone. This especially reminded me of our “ Canadian Christmas” we would all pile in the car and head over to “Aunty” Sherolyns and spend the day with our “cousins “ Your mom gave us all a grounding in our new adopted country. Great memories.

So sorry to hear this news today Pete, she was a lovely lady any time I went to the Bull on a Friday I would always go to the back where they would sit to say Hi! Sherolyn and Jeff would always make me feel welcome. They knew my dad and mum the most. She will be missed.

Lovely tribute, our Auntie Sherolyn was the matriarch of the family and held that position well for all of her adopted family! I often wonder how she did it, hosting Christmas for 20 plus of us all and even having table gifts for everyone!! Her sewing skills gave us all bragging rights as she made everything from our graduation dresses to my bridesmaid dresses. She didn’t make my wedding dress but she might as well had( I bought one 2 sizes too small but I really liked it) she made it fit without anyone ever knowing!! She said it would have been easier to make the Bloody thing!! She carried on these traditions for my girls too and helped me out of so many costume problems for Jade and Emma’s performances. She was an extremely talented and giving lady and she will be missed❤️

We have been friends with Jeff & Sherolyn longer than I care to remember,in fact Janet worked at The Slipper Works, with Sherolyn.
I do remember calling at their Cog Street home & it was like a dress shop with numerous wedding gowns all awaiting their owners to collect them.
What as not been mentioned above is that she was also the resident disc jockey at “the Arcadian Rooms ” which is where they met.She was always cheerful,7 I think the photo that is above is truly Sherolyn.
Even though we are at the bottom of the globe we regularly kept in touch & although they did not know it ,they were indirectly responsible for our emigration to NZ
R.I.P Sherolyn, certainly in our family you will never be forgotten

To Pete, Carol & family our deepest condolences.

Sherolyn will be missed by many, she was a lady with a great sense of humor & a huge heart.

Just one of our fond memories of her was when Geoff & I were struggling as we were both working while building a house with Elissa being a toddler & Geoff trying to start a second business. I mentioned to Sherolyn that I was going to the laundry mat as our apartment didn’t have one. She immediately said OK on Wednesday nights you’re all coming for supper & bring your washing, we did this for 2 months…

And we know our story is not the only one like this. Such a sad loss. 🌹 Geoff, Susan & Family.

We are thinking about the entire Dawson family and how difficult the past year has been for you. Growing up, Auntie Sherolyn’s house was always my favourite house to visit for a few reasons. 1. the rabbits, I could look for hours at those things 2. Her garden, which felt like walking through a magical forest. 3. If u were lucky enough you got a peak into her sewing room, (which she always said was a bloody mess) and she would give me some leftover scraps of material for my dolls. But most of all because she was always laughing and telling me stories about my mom and dad when they were young. Thank you for being our family Auntie Sherolyn. Love you!

My deepest sympathies to the Dawson family ❤️
When I think of Sherolyn I think of Friday night date nights at the Continental Inn. I was used to seeing Jeff & Frank with paint all over them. But Friday nights they were all cleaned up with their beautiful wives proudly on their arms. It was so nice to see them with so many friends dancing and laughing, having a great time.
Yes Sherolyn was a wonderful seamstress. She made me some beautiful dresses. She & Jeff will be missed by many.
    Thanks for the memories ❤️💔

It’s so sad to lose Sherolyn. We’ve known her for most of our lives. Parties at Jeff and Sherolyn’s were legendary.. from Wall Court to Riverwood , they were the best… and the many Christmas gatherings with all the families and a multitude of people. Sherolyn was a great host, cook, baker, and one of the most generous wonderful persons we had the privilege to call our friend. Thanks for the beautiful memories.

I have many wonderful memories of Christmas dinners at Sherolyn and Jeff’s and her letting the kids have a drink of wine and lots of great food. She had such a warm and welcoming personality and always made everyone feel at home. She was a long time friend to my parents who loved her dearly. I remember buying the most beautiful fabric from Liberty in London which she made into a beautiful outfit which I wore to a number of events. She was quick witted, kind, caring and a “give the shirt off her back to help you” kind of person. A lovely lady who will be missed.
