Steven Michael Tilleczek

February 3, 1961 - July 18, 2021

Funeral Details:

On July 18, 2021, after a fiercely fought battle with cancer, Steve Michael Tilleczek (Tilly) peacefully passed with daughter Hailey Tilleczek, son-in-law Andrew Massie, Son Jake Tilleczek, Steve’s loving companion Karen Durrwachter and Nancy Blain by his side. Steve’s last year with us included a 60th birthday celebration, trip to Banff and walking Hailey down the aisle. Honoring Steve’s legacy, Hailey & Andrew’s little girl, born July 29th, was named Tilly. Steve was going to be a first-time grandfather and will be forever watching over her.

Steve is predeceased by his mother Nancy and great grandmother Elfreda (Omi).  He is survived by his children Hailey (Andrew, Crosby and Tilly) and Jake, brothers Tony and Terry (Joanna), father Norbert (Bob) and Debbie Ryan, nephews Elliott (Jesse) Tilleczek and William (Jessie and Eleanor) Tilleczek, and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Nova Scotia.

Steve loved his work in sales, and the golf games that came with it. Steve worked with Near North Supply, Bardon and Trent Metals. He spoke highly of his customers and always enjoyed dropping by for a friendly visit. His many loyal customers will miss his witty sense of humor and cheerful manner. Steve was an avid golfer and member of the Barrie Country Club for over 30 years. Tilly will be missed by all at the Country Club, a place where he accomplished one of his three hole in ones and a rare albatross. Steve was a natural athlete enjoying baseball, basketball, tennis and hockey. He was a magician with a pool cue, ruthless with a ping pong paddle, and will continue to cheer on his beloved Boston Bruins. Steve’s time with us was short but he lived his life to the fullest. In his 60 years, he lived every day with a big smile, love, and laughter in his heart. Steve believed there was nothing better in life than making someone else laugh. His purpose was to make us all smile and he did just that and so much more. He shared his love for sport, music, humor and family with his children, whom he often said were his greatest accomplishment.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Drs. Dixon and Morris, Hospice Simcoe, Royalty Care and the Brain Oncology Team at Sunnybrook. Donations to Hospice Simcoe will be graciously accepted in Steven’s name. Steve’s final journey was made special because of the care and compassion his family received from the nurses, staff and many volunteers at Hospice Simcoe.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
