Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

On Wednesday August 30, 2023, Steven Harold Leadbeater passed away at the age of 65 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his beloved wife and family in the comfort of his home.

Steve was predeceased by his father, Harold Leadbeater.  Steve is survived by his mother Geraldine Leadbeater, his wife Joan, and his stepchildren Brian (Linda), Erin, David (Andrea). Beloved Grandpa to Hailey, Tyler, Julia, Aaliyah, and Liam. Steve will also be dearly missed by his sister Nancy and her husband Gord Williams and his extended family and many friends.

Steve was known for a heart as big as his infectious smile.  He lived a full life doing the things he loved with the people who loved him.  His passions included cars, sports and being outside – either in the garden or at the BBQ.  He was a huge fan of both the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs and wore their team colours often.  He was always happy to cook up anything on the BBQ to feed his family and friends – especially a good steak.

He was a member of the Upper Canada Chordsman.  The songs and melodies brought a lot of happiness to audiences over the many years.

After a 23-year rewarding career at the Toronto Star as a photoengraver, Steve settled into retirement but wanted another challenge to fill his time.  He began a new adventure working with the New Roads Automotive Group where he was able to use his passion for cars daily.  Steve was grateful for the fantastic team he worked with while there and the dear friendships he made.

Steve’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to all the members of the health care team at Southlake in the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre as well as those from Royal Victoria Hospital who cared for him in his final weeks including Dr. van Walraven, Dr. Cohen, Dr. Morris, and the nurses from Bayshore Home Health.

Respecting Steve’s final wishes there will be no funeral service or visitation.
