Passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 75 years.
Beloved husband of Carol for 54 wonderful years. Loving father of Steve and Jeff. Proud grandpa of Tyson. Dear brother of Jack (the late Debbie), Roy (Meredith), and the late Jim (Barbara). Uncle of nieces Becky, Danielle, Carly, Jade and nephew Tom. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Priscilla (née Snider).
Steve's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted hockey coach and trainer to his son Steve, creating memories that would last a lifetime. A hardworking and determined man, Steve dedicated many years to Bombardier while pursuing his lifelong passion for racing. Through his commitment and leadership at Sunset Speedway, he worked his way from employee to owner, all while balancing his career and family life.
To Steve, the racing community was more than a hobby, it was an extended family. Over the years, he welcomed hundreds of people into his circle of friends, forming lifelong connections across Canada, the United States, and beyond. He also had a passion for cameras and photography, capturing moments both on and off the track. It was through racing that he met the love of his life, Carol, and in the 1970s, he even enjoyed trying his own hand behind the wheel of his own race car.
Steve will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, tireless work ethic, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, following the conclusion of the racing season.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
