Susan (Sue) May Bogardis (nee Dobson) passed away in her sleep at home on January 6, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Born in St Thomas, daughter of her deceased parents Squadron Leader Roland and Jean Dobson. Sister of her deceased brothers, Rolland and Don (Helen).

Sue attended Barrie Central Collegiate, playing clarinet in the Central Band. There she met her future husband Robert (Bob) Bogardis. Together they enjoyed a loving 57 years of marriage raising 3 beautiful children, Amanda (Ron) Barben, Tara (Kevin) Nicholls and Rob (Mikel-Ann), and 6 wonderful grandchildren, Cooper and Hunter Barben, Parker and Maddison Nicholls and Mikaela and Riley Bogardis.

Sue was an incredible human, compassionate, loyal, loving and fun. She often put others before herself. Their dreams before hers. She was musical and compassionate. Creative and talented. She was an avid reader, a wordsmith and incredible baker, and an exemplary seamstress.

She loved travel and sailing. Sunshine and dancing and friends. She loved animals. Most of all though, she loved her family. All of us. She kept in touch with friends and family near and far. She has been an incredible lifetime partner, my best friend. She was a loving Mama to her children and she loved her grandchildren more than anything. We have been so lucky. Thank you for choosing us

Sue had challenging careers, first as a business owner of the ladies clothing store, Susan’s, at the Downtown Center on Dunlop St., and then at age 40 going back to school at Georgian College to become a Registered Nurse at RVH.

Her love and caring heart brought warmth and pleasure where ever she went. but that same heart ultimately got diseased and failed her. There will be no more cookies, only memories of the most loving person ever.

We want to thank the doctors and nurses at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for their care with her frequent visits to emerge as well as the staff at Southlake Hospital and Southlake Rhythm and Function clinics for their efforts to keep that heart going over the 20 years that it troubled Sue.

If you wish, donations in Sue’s memory can be made to the CGMH www.cgmh.on.ca  or Sleeping Children Around the World www.scaw.org

    Dear Bob & Family,
I am so sad to hear your news about your dear Sweet Sue. Susan was my angel for my son Whitney ~ she cared for him the first couple of years of his life with loving arms every morning when I left him in safe keeping for the day. I think of Sue every Christmas when I hang the Xmas tree decoration she gave to Whitney. Sue was such a loving, caring, gentle soul with the biggest heart ever. I admired Sue for being such a loving mom to Amanda, Tara and Rob and of course dear wife to Bob. And she was so brave and courageous to go back to school and get her nursing degree with high honours. Thinking of all of you and my sincere condolences to your beautiful family. Anne xo

    Bob and family,

I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Sue.
My last conversion with Sue was to ask her to assist me in making arrangements for a surprise for Bob. We spoke for sometime all the while I could hear in her voice the love and pride she had for you Bob.
Remember the good times and as difficult as it maybe for you now remember she will always be with you in spirit.
