Thomas Orpen, 66, of Newmarket, passed away after a courageous battle with Kidney disease on February 21, 2024 with his wife Arlene, daughter Crystal and grandchildren Ryan (Faith) and Madison by his side. Tom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Arlene Orpen. Beloved son of the late Doreen and Ian Feathersonhaugh and Keith and Gayle Orpen. Tom was born into a large family, and was the youngest and proud brother of 7 sisters and uncle to many nieces and nephew's. Proud father to Darryl, Donna and Crystal. Proud "Poppy" to Lindsay, Ryan "Spud" (Faith), Renee (Sammy), Taylor, Madison, Daniel, Willow, and Sydney. Tom found solace in his love and dedication to his horses, Solomon, Feature, Bear, Mulligan, and Blacky and his forever friendship in Chad (Bianca), big Mike and his lifelong friend Jerry Wallace (Vee). Tom gained the nickname, two tone Tommy with his love in fixing up old cars to his desired taste.
Tom played a significant role in the lives of all 8 of his grandchildren but played an instrumental part in raising his grandson, Ryan "Spud". In quiet moments shared between them, a timeless and profound love unfolded. Through stories and memories created, their bond held together by a gentle embrace that found not only warmth but lifelong refuge, where laughter echoed and wisdom shared, and an unspoken bond through simply being together.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Prince Aujla and Megan Pollera at Mackenzie Health (Nephrology team). Tom truly entrusted his life in your hands and your dedication, care and compassion truly brought him certainty in the most trying times of his life. A special thank you to his granddaughter Renee (RN), who continued to advocate and ensured Tom was receiving the best medical care available to him.
Tom's family invite you to celebrate his life on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00pm at 19489 Woodbine Avenue, Queensville, Ontario.

Posted on: Thursday, February 22, 2024As a youth and young man my only beloved brother, Tom, was like a smouldering ember, in the sense that he was patiently awaiting his destined happiness and fulfillment in this life. As their only son, he was truly favoured by both our mother and father, which brought joy to my heart. Throughout his earlier adult years into mid-life, he would show up at our mother’s place unannounced and was always greeted with unconditional love by both our mother and our very kind-hearted stepfather Ian. And to my knowledge, he also maintained a good relationship with our dad. Tom imbibed lofty qualities such as compassion and empathy. Bolstered, no doubt, by his skill in karate it was his nature to step in when he saw a situation where someone was being taken advantage of, or abused. Although the news of Tom’s passing brings me sadness and grief at the same time I am very happy to hear that he experienced love in his life with Arlene and their family. God bless you all for being there for my one and only brother, Tom.

Posted on: Saturday, February 24, 2024Tom, thank you for being such a kind and fun big brother. Although we hadn’t see each other for a while you were in my thoughts often. I miss your laugh and your smiling face. I loved spending time with you, Maxine and Jason when we were younger. You wanted to be with us, which was a great feeling as a kid. You always made things exciting and I enjoyed my time with you. I love you. Until we meet again…xo. P.S. give Mom a hug for us.
Arlene, I’m so sorry that Tom is no longer with you. I’m sure your heart is broken. Crystal, thank you for contacting Maxine to let her know of Tom’s passing. We appreciate knowing he was loved by you both and his family.
