I had the privilege to work closely with Val for several years on the executive of our local union. Val’s deep understanding of social issues and equity, her ability to educate and debate, her unbelievably quick wit, and overall intelligence were instrumental to my growth personally and professionally. I will be eternally grateful. The world is a better place because of Val. My deepest condolences to Jean and family.

I first met Val when she joined the agency in an administrative capacity in the Bradford office. Besides her professionalism and the skills she brought, Val’s smile and quick wit made her an asset to the team. I knew that if I needed support or a shoulder to lean on during those tough days, that Val was there – without condition, willing to listen and just be in the moment with you. I have missed seeing that big smile of hers. Rest well Val. Deepest condolences to those she left behind.

The news of Valerie’s passing has been very emotional. My heart breaks for her lovely Jean. I have had the pleasure of spending very personal time with both Jean and Valerie for many years. This sad event has reminded me of all the time we have spent together, whether we were chatting about our beloved animals, new paint designs, scrumptious coffee or what we were having for dinner that night. Hair days are going to be missing a beautiful, artistic soul. I am grateful for all of the years of memories but am glad that she is now at piece, no longer in pain and watching over all of the people that she loved so dearly. You are not ever gone, just not as you were before. I’ll be watching for signs. Jean I love you lots, you are in my heart and I am here for anything you need.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about Valerie’s passing. It was such a shock and reminder how precious life is. Val was funny, smart, insightful and always had a listening ear as I droned on about worries or frustrations I had. We always had a chuckle over some silly thing but her good nature always ruled the day. I loved watching Val and Jean talk to each in that special language that two people that have loved and cared for each other for a long time. My deepest sympathy Jean. Val was one of a kind. I will miss her !

It was a pleasure to have first met the two of you under a misfortunate situation ( flat tire) but we sure built a friendship from that day. I consider it an honour to have known Valerie and called her a friend and was saddened to hear of her passing. I loved her laugh and sense of humour. My deepest condolences.
