Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life and Private Graveside Service will be held

Case, Verna M. (April 1933-August 2020)

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Verna Case (nee Comer) on Monday August 10, 2020 at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket at the age of 87 years.  Beloved wife of the late George Case.  Fondly remembered by her beloved partner William Card and his family.  Loving mom to Katherine (Lew) Granger, Linda (Neil) Mitchell, Marilyn (Tim) Graham and Beverly (Kelly) Le Ber.  Devoted grandmother to Kevin (Karen), Colin (Jackie), David (Katie) Granger & Lyndsay (Chris) Case, Rob (Darcie) & Derek (Trish) Mitchell, Katie (Ryan) Donnan, Courtney (Ty) MacDonell & Brendan Graham and Evan & Melanie Le Ber.  Special great grandmother of Camden, Morgan, Logan, Lane & Dallas Granger, Colton & Keaton (late Connor) Case, Kyler Mitchell, Barrett & Emma Mitchell, Quinn & Chloe Donnan and Landon MacDonell.  Dear sister to Myrtle, Gladys and predeceased by Ross, Evelyn, Kathleen and Donald.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Mom was a long time Mount Albert resident who loved to dance, golf and spend time with her family.  She worked tirelessly for the
IGA and Home Hardware and volunteered doing catering for the Mt. Albert Legion.  Mom was not born into privilege and suffered many hardships coming of age in the depression but was always ready to lend a hand or give to those in need.  We will miss her ready smile and the pride she showed to all of us.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Margaret Bahen Hospice or Southlake Cancer Clinic.   A Celebration of Life and graveside service will be held.  Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful transition York and condolences may be forwarded to the family through peacefultransition.ca

I will dearly miss her. I have treasured memories of Verna as I was growing up.
More recently I have memories of her at the dances around York Region.
I loved hearing her stories of working for my grandparents on their farm. Plus how my Dad (Ralph) used to tease her at school.
She always was a classy, elegant lady with the most beautiful smile.
Verna you were always an angel in my eyes.
Enjoy that great golf course in heaven as we keep your memories a live.

Our deepest condolences to Verna’s family and to Bill. Verna was a gracious and kind soul. Whenever there was a dance Verna and Bill would be attendance and have a great time of dancing and socializing. She loved live music and was quick with a smile, a laugh and a sharp eye. It was always a treat to see her and share a visit. She will be missed.

Aunt Verna was so special. We loved hanging out with them in the summers, watching Bats fly and telling stories. During the day we collected pop bottles to take to the store and get candy. I remember going to Mt Albert Sports day with her pushing a baby buggy. She said she was having another baby as well. She would call her Beverly. We had a blast at wasago Beach.
In 1999 Our family had two hospitalized and she was one of the first to write me such an encouaging note. I still have it.
As she got older she needed a B12 shot each month. She affectionately called me Miss Prick with a grin. I shall miss our visits more than you know. She was so Generous. If she won at the casino , she would flip me a fifty or 100 and insist I use it to raise all my kids in Africa.
Aunt Verna was special to everyone who knew her.
    Love you my Aunty. xoxoxo

Bev, and the rest of the family, so sorry to hear your mom passed. The world truly has lost a good one. Your mom was always quick with a smile , loved a good laugh and definitely got a kick out of making others chuckle. There was never a dull moment when Verna was in the room! I have so many fond memories of being at your home when we were kids. My bet is she’s cutting a rug with your dad right now. You will be deeply missed Mrs. C.

I have many great memories of your Mom. It was always a delight to have a conversation with her. Her smile in the photo says so much. My condolences to Verna’s Family and Friends.
    “Her Journey’s Just Begun”

Don’t think of her as gone away Think how she must be wishing
Her journey’s just begun That we could know today
Life holds so many facets How nothing but our sadness
This earth is only one Can really pass away

Just think of her as resting And think of her as living
From the sorrows and the tears In the hearts of those she touched…
In a place of warmth and comfort For nothing loved is ever lost
Where there are no days and years And she was loved so much
