Vernon Watson English

Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vernon English on November 18, 2024, at the age of 62. Vernon will be deeply missed by his father Edward English (Beverly), and by his mother Estelle English (the late Keith). He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Ashley Handy, who was the light of his life. Vernon will also be missed by his brother Vincent.

Vernon was a man with a larger-than-life personality. Known for his loud, joyful presence, and filling every room with music. Singing and listening to music were constant companions in his life, with Rock 95 as his favourite radio station, always playing the classic tunes he loved.

He had a profound love for the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing, whether in the warm summer sun or bundled up during the winter for ice fishing. When not outdoors, he could often be found enjoying a game of darts with friends.

In recent years, Vernon achieved a milestone he was incredibly proud of—he went back and earned his GED through the Barrie Literacy Council. This accomplishment meant so much to him, and he cherished the supportive community he found there since joining in 2018.

Above all, Vernon’s greatest joy was spending time with his daughter, Ashley. His love for her was unwavering, and their bond was a source of pride and happiness for him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Vernon’s memory and the impact he had on those who knew and loved him.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and condolences online at www.peacefultransition.ca.

I am so sad to hear about Vern’s passing. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. I met him at my sister Ann’s wedding to Steve. Vern was Steve’s best man and I the maid of honour. We got to meet again at Steve’s 60th birthday party last year. It was nice to see him again after all these years. Rest in peace Vern.

Condolences to the English family and all his friends that remember him. I knew him from the Barrie Literacy Council and he was a great guy.
He talked about darts and, of course, Rock 95. Rest in Peace, Vern
