It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Wanda passed away on April 14th, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. After a short but courageous battle with ALS.  Wanda is survived by Wayne Hooey, her daughter Angela Brown (Steve) and her son Chris Scott (Kim). As well as her four grandchildren who were the light of her life, Brianna, Alaina, Benjamin, and Graham. Sister Norma Sanders (Robert). Predeceased by her sister Marguerite, Brother Garnet (Sherlene) and parents Harvey and Dorthey Challice (nee Armstrong)

She was born in Millbrook, moved to Haliburton, in 1972, and then to Barrie, in 1985. In 1986 she started to work at Powell Jones and spent the next 36 years as a devoted employee. She loved her coworkers and the clients that she worked with, many of whom she considered close friends. Wanda was also very involved with the Bradford legion for many years. She was a diligent worker but also knew how to relax and have fun, usually at her trailer barefoot and loving life.  She also loved to keep busy, and she did a lot of crafts, in recent years this has been quilting. She also loved spending time with all her grandchildren, attending baseball, hockey games and school events. She was the center of our world, and we will miss her very much.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ALS www.als.ca in Wanda’s memory.

I met Wanda through my cousin Sonya when we went on a vacation with a bunch of girls to Dominican. Then we stayed in Collingwood for a weekend and another weekend at Wanda’s trailer.
Wanda was a lovely lady and I’m happy to have had the privilege of getting to know her.
She talked about her family and adored her grand children so much. I know how you will all miss this beautiful person and sorry for your loss but she will always be in your hearts ❤️

Wayne, Angela, Chris and all grandchildren, I am very sorry for your loss. Although I only worked by her for a short time, and worked with her on a few occasions, I consider that time to be a great privilege, as Wanda was always immensely kind, helpful, positive, and cheerful. My condolences and thoughts go out to all family and friends. Rest easy Wanda.
