Wayne Pickering

February 13, 1957 - May 19, 2024

Funeral Details: At Wayne’s request, cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held.

After a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, Wayne passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on Sunday May 19th, 2024, at the age of 67.

Loving husband of Marg, married for 47 years. Caring father of Tanya (Andy) and Jason (Carrie). Proud Papa of Connor, Jackson and Ashton.

Dear brother of Paul (Mary) and Don (Sandy), and brother-in-law of Betty. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wayne is predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Larry and Murray.

Wayne was born and raised in Barrie. He was a dedicated, loyal, hard worker who worked in the truss business for 41 years. He was fortunate to spend his last two years of work using his talents and skills building furniture which was his lifelong passion.

Wayne was not a man of many words, but as a family man, he loved sharing good times and laughter with his family and friends.

As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Wayne loved fishing, boating, hunting, camping and playing golf. He particularly liked playing guitar around a campfire.

When you think of Wayne, raise a glass and remember him fondly. In the words of one of his favourite songs, “Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong”.

The family would like to express thanks to Wayne’s care team at RVH Cancer Centre, the Bayshore nurses and a special thank you to Heather.

Memorial donations to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center (Cancer Centre) www.rvh.on.ca/areas-of-care/cancer-program or Pancreatic Cancer Canada www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca would be gratefully received.

So sorry for your loss Aunt Marg, Tanya, Jason and Family and Friends. My heart goes out to you all and to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing and being surrounded by Uncle Wayne. His smile and laugh were infectious and he will be sadly missed. I will cherish all the fun times and amazing memories made during our Pickering Garherings but my most favourite was always being surrounded by family around a campfire listening to you play the guitar. Forever in our hearts Uncle Wayne. Rest Easy. Love you xo❤️
