William “Bill” Arthur Charman

December 20th, 1943 - January 18th, 2022

Funeral Details:

Bill passed away on January 18th, 2022 at RVH Hospital.  After suffering a severe brain aneurysm in 2017, Bill made a miraculous recovery and enjoyed his second chance at life up until this month. In his last days, Bill was surrounded by his wife, Mary, and his daughters, Christine and Madison. They were all able to say their goodbyes and Bill knew they were all by his side. Bill is now reunited with his son Arthur (predeceased).

Bill is survived by his cherished family, and will forever be famously known as “Dad, Uncle, Bill, Grandpa”. He shared a special bond with his loving siblings, sisters Donna (Bill predeceased), and Gail (Jack) and brother Bob (Deb). Bill was also surrounded by more sister-in-laws than one could imagine: Cathy, Peggy, Trish, Joy (Glenn) & Lorrie. Bill was also loved by his mother-in-law, Fran (Mike). He was a proud grandfather to Samantha (Ben) and Charlie (Emily), and a great grandfather to Katie-Lynn, Brooke-Lynn, Colton and Jaxon. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly: Jennifer, Laura, James, David, Joshua, Karley, Bradley, Mike, Jordan, Sophia, Brooke, Brad, Debbie and Tim.

Bill brought a smile to everyone that crossed his path and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He knew how short life could be and lived life to its fullest. Although Bill is no longer with us, he is forever in our hearts and continues to make us smile. Bill would not want us to be sad, instead, he would want us to remember all the fun times we all had with him.

Cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. In Bill fashion, we will be having a private celebration once we are all able to be together to hug and celebrate his life. Bill always made sure his donations always went to Sick Kids, so please feel free to donate in his memory.

If we were to write books about our experiences with Bill and the laughs we had over the years, we’d better build a bigger bookshelf. Every moment has been a treasured memory and will always be. Family is everything and let’s not ever forget that. Rest in Peace Sir William. Don’t forget to tip the Angels with that $5 bill in your wallet. Save me a spot at your table xox

Beautifully written Mary and girls. As you say he and his family were blessed to have Bill with us those four extra years.
But now it’s time for the pain to end so that he can rest peacefully with Arthur.
Bill, we will meet again and I know you will have that cold brew ready for my entrance.
    Hugs and kisses to all
    Joy and Glenn

Bill, you will be missed! You were very much loved and a cherished part of your family. My favourite “memory” of Bill is being at Bill and Mary’s in Beeton (where I was also raised) and perfecting my ‘Yahoo” yell. We had quite the time making sure we had the right spin on it. Anytime spent in Bill’s presence was a delight. A very special man. Sincere condolences Mary, Maddie, Christine and the rest of the family.

    Dear Mary and Madison,

We are so sorry to hear this news. With Bill’s passing, we have all lost a good friend. We have so many years of good and cherished memories. When we think of Bill, we recall how he always had a smile on his face and was at the ready with a warm embrace. We will always remember Bill with a tool in one hand, while the other hand reached to get you a beer or beverage of choice. Our spirits are lifted when we recall our memories of the many fun dinners, pool parties, camping trips and Bill’s tower of ice-cream containers. Bill will always be in our hearts and in our fondest memories. He lived his best life personifying kindness, hospitality, and joy in helping others. He was a very special human being. Sending you, our love. The De Courcy Family
