My sincerest sympathies to the family.
Dave was my maintenance team member for several years. A very kind man, always open to share his knowledge and experience. Well liked and respected by the entire production team.
Dave had incredible mechanical aptitude. There seemed to be no issue that he could not remedy. I fondly remember several occasions where I could observe the “wheels” turning within Dave’s mind to quickly find a solution to any mechanical breakdown we may have encountered. It was truly impressive to watch (when an easy or simple fix was not present) as he cobbled solid solutions out of random parts and components.
I always said, if I was stranded on a deserted island, Dave would be the individual I would want with me.
A true master of his craft.
    He will be missed.

Our heartfelt condolences to Betty and of David’s family.

We first met David several years back when we had become friends with Sherry and Warren. From the start, his friendly and gentle demeanor were the first impression we had, which has lasted. A few years ago, David offered to help me (Wayne) with an outboard motor problem, which he went after thoroughly. When he was done (successfully), he gave me the old parts, plus the disc with the technical manual he had bought and studied. As Mr. Forget said, the kind of guy you would pick first to get stuck on a desert island with.

But more than his obvious technical wizardry, the thing that stuck in my mind after spending time with him was his basic friendliness and decency. We can all be thankful to have known him if even a little and if not for long enough.

Uncle David was the one with the boat who drove around for hours, and when asked for “just one more round”, he just laughed and patiently obliged. When we were teens, he was the one who fixed all our broken cars and helped us keep them running. Some of my favourite childhood memories include the stories he would tell at the campfire, with a merry twinkle in his eye. Age makes its marks, but that merry twinkle always remained, and I will always remember him that way.

My sincerest condolences Aunt Betty, Ron, Tom, Sandy and Shelby.

Aunt Betty, Ron , Tom, Sandy,

The gang of us spending our vacation time together was big part of my childhood, memories to teasure. We didn’t have Dad we had Uncle David.

Do you remember the bucket brigade that first winter at the cottage? Amy spoke of the twinkle, the picture you used here captures it well. I rmember Uncle David laughing like a littel kid when we tobagganed down the hill on the old tent trailer mattress.

    My condolences to you all.

    Debbie
