It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Leonardo (Len) Del Duca on Sunday November 16, 2025, a man whose generosity, humour, and warmth touched everyone who knew him.

He leaves in the deepest grief his devoted wife, Marisa (Mimi); his daughters Amanda (Vince) and Bianca (Bryan); and the grandchildren who were the absolute lights of his life, Avelina and Braxton. His family was his greatest joy, and he poured his whole heart into them every single day.

He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved parents, Giuseppe and Lucia, and his brother Matthew, bringing comfort to all who loved him.

He was known for his fun, larger-than-life personality and his gift for storytelling the kind of stories that made people laugh, stay a little longer, and feel instantly connected. Hockey was one of his lifelong passions, and some of his happiest moments were spent on the ice playing with his closest friends, who became like brothers to him. He loved his music, good food, and a beer or glass of wine shared with the people he cared about.

His instinct to help others, and the kindness he showed to so many in the community, were just part of who he was, steady, generous, and always thinking of others before himself.

His passing was sudden and impossibly hard to accept, but the love, joy, and countless memories he leaves behind will continue to guide and comfort us.

He will be deeply missed by his brothers, sisters, many nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends, and all whose lives were brightened by his presence.

In honour of his generous spirit, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Hockey Helps the Homeless , a cause he passionately supported and deeply believed in.

Dear Mimi, Amanda, Bianca, his lovely grandchildren, extended family and friends.

I am totally shocked and heartbroken for you all to hear of Lens sudden passing.

I got to know Len, Mimi and Amanda in Calgary in the mid 80’s. Not only were they great neighbours but also became great friends. Len was always smiling, chatting and full of life and had endless love and pride for his family.

Len will be dancing with the angels that have went before him to the sounds of CCR I’m sure.

He will forever watch over you all and guide you through this difficult time in your lives.

    R.I.P. Len. 🙏🪽🪽

There are some people who make such an impact in their lives that their loss is felt profoundly by many. Len is definitely one of those people. The mischief comes across in his grin. The kindness through his eyes. Len was one of my “go to ” people. He was there when Cole needed his first set of hockey gear…something his mama knew nothing about! He was there when we needed supplies during COVID. And he was always able to leave us with a smile on our faces. His passing has left a big empty hole, even for those of us who saw him infrequently. Cole and I send our love and our tears to Mimi, Amanda and Bianca. XOXO

On behalf of the entire Hockey Helps the Homeless team, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Len Del Duca.

Len was a valued member of our Barrie event committee, and his dedication, warmth, and generosity touched everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside him. His efforts in coordinating the incredible pasta lunch each year became a tradition that brought people together and reflected the passion he had for the cause and his community.

We are grateful for the time, energy, and spirit Len shared with our HHTH team. His contributions made a lasting impact, and he will be remembered with great respect and fondness.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him during this difficult time.

Prior to the days of Covid, Leonard joined our Monday morning Out of the Cold team that served breakfast to the homeless at Collier United Church . What a wonderful man with a great sense of humour. He claimed he was 5’9 in his skates , got along with everyone and worked hard to get the job done .He treated our guests with respect and always had a smile on his face. . He even brought his daughters to help out on those cold dark early mornings. I haven’t seen him since Out of the Cold disbanded but I do remember him with a smile and I am thankful to have known him.. He will be missed.
May the love that you shared light your way today and always. May you find comfort in the memory of his smile, his laughter and in his love for all of you.

Mimi, Amanda and Bianca we wish to offer our sincerest condolences for this unimaginable unexpected lose. Len I know loved his family more than anything. I saw this from childhood, how he was with his family. Then when he married you mimi the love of his life and had the girls who he adored more than anything. I only saw/ heard him happier than on his wedding day, is when he called to say amanda and bianca were born. Len was kind caring and always made time if you needed anything. He was a brother to me growing up. Always there when needed. Please know we are thinking of all of you. We wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time. We are heartbroken for you. No words will ever be enough. We are sending you love and hugs. Deanna, Kierra and John Tatum.

It is with great sadness that we heard the news of Leonard’s passing and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family. We have known Leonard since the first grade of elementary school at St. John Bosco and even though so much time has passed, we could not help but notice that the description of him as a husband, father and grandfather was exactly how he was growing up. Deldu, as we called him, was the leader of our pack when we were kids, not because he was bossy but because he was the centre that held us all together. He was smart, funny and he made everyone feel like they belonged. Although life has taken us far and wide, we are still in those endless days of playing street hockey in Dumas, when even though none could match his skill he always treated all of us like we were the Canadiens. Whenever we would think or talk about Deldu it always made us smile and make us feel better not just about ourselves but life in general. It was a privilege to know him and we will always treasure the time we had together. We are what our families and friends make us, and we both know that we are better people because we were part of that pack and the we had Deldu as our friend.

Rest in peace Deldu, you will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Lenny, in the past two days, I’ve heard from so many of our teammates from the Hurricanes, James Lyng and John Abbott, each one expressing the pleasure of having had you play a part in their lives. As a teammate, you were a warrior and as a friend you were all in!!! I was fortunate to have you as a linemate, teammate and roommate. Only Anthony and I can appreciate being woken up on game days to you blaring the Boss and Tenth Avenue Freezeout!! None of us will forget the A+ you got in Sociology class, when you showed up with the Springsteen Album Cover and spoke for 30 minutes on how Springsteen had revolutionized modern society…. totally off the cuff, with that Lenny grin, that said…. I got this!!! My friend, thank you for being part of our lives and for setting the pathway for your family . May your light shine on your family as they carry your spirit in their heart’s, for that was your mission and legacy.
    Godspeed my friend.

I just wanted to say thank you. When I first moved to Ontario, you were one of the very first people I met, and also the first person I met when I applied at La-Z-Boy. You made those early days so much easier. Your kindness, your energy, and just the way you treated me made a real difference. I’m genuinely grateful our paths crossed, and I’m glad I got the chance to meet someone as amazing as you. and im sorry you did not get to retire.
